Senior Official Leaves Department of Transportation to Launch New Firm
Geoff Gonella or Donna McLean
March 3, 2004
Washington, DC – Donna McLean, former Assistant Secretary for Budget &
Programs and Chief Financial Officer at the Department of Transportation
(DOT), announced Monday that she has left federal service to launch a
consulting firm specializing in federal transportation policies and government
relations.
Prior to confirmation as Assistant Secretary and CFO, she was the Chief
Financial Officer of the Federal Aviation Administration. She has also been a
professional staff member for the U.S. House of Representatives’ Committee on
Transportation and Infrastructure, Subcommittee on Aviation from 1993 to
1999. She previously served in a variety of positions within the Department
of Transportation and the Office of Management and Budget during the Reagan
and first Bush Administrations.
“Clearly, this is a new chapter in my life and I am very excited about the
opportunities,” she said. “My 15 years in public service were very
rewarding. I was able to see transportation policies developed from the
Legislative Branch as well as several places in the Executive Branch. My last
position at DOT was a wonderful experience and I’m grateful that President
Bush and Secretary
McLean’s
operation – DONNA McLEAN
Associates – will be housed in the offices of Cornerstone Government Affairs,
with whom she will have a strategic alliance and for whom she will serve as a
senior advisor.
“We are
thrilled to have a person of Donna’s stature and capability as a resource,”
said Geoff Gonella, president of Cornerstone Government Affairs. “Her
experience and expertise is a great match with our current team and we look
forward to working together.”
She will focus on issues such as surface transportation, aviation policy and
transportation security.
McLean received both her undergraduate degree and Master in Public Affairs
from Indiana University. Donna and her husband enjoy living in the District
with their twin daughters.
