Washington, D.C. (03/03/03) – Cornerstone Government Affairs LLC announced today that Frank M. Cushing, the Majority Clerk of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Veterans’ Affairs and Housing and Urban Development, has joined the firm as a vice president and equity partner.

“We are very pleased about Frank’s joining the team,” said Geoff Gonella, president of Cornerstone Government Affairs.  “His expertise, contacts, and in-depth experience in the public and private sector will be invaluable for our current clients and for our future growth.”

Prior to his nine years in the U.S. House of Representatives, Cushing spent nearly 15 years as a staff member in the U.S. Senate.  In the Senate, he served as staff director, both majority and minority, of the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources; as clerk and staff director of the Appropriations Subcommittee on the Interior and Related Agencies; and as a legislative assistant to former Senator James A. McClure (R-ID).

Additionally, Mr. Cushing was formerly Vice President of Federal Affairs for the Coastal Corporation, a Houston-based “Fortune 50” energy concern.

“I have known Frank for 25 years and have a tremendous amount of respect for him and what he has accomplished throughout his career,” said Tim Sanders, Executive Vice President and a member of the firm’s management team.  “He is a great addition to the firm.  His knowledge of the players and the process fits well with our core structure, and his reputation on both sides of the aisle is impeccable.”
