Washington, D.C.
(06/21/04) – Cornerstone Government Affairs announced Monday that Bob Knisely has joined the firm effective July 1. Bob joins Cornerstone after a 30-year career on Capitol Hill and several years as a consultant in the private sector.
He served 28 years as a professional staff member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies. In that capacity, he advised several subcommittee chairmen from both parties. He also served under six chairmen of the full Appropriations Committee.
Additionally, Knisely served two years on the Senate Appropriations Full Committee staff.
“Bob’s experience with the Appropriations Committee will complement our existing former Committee staff and will add a new dimension and depth to the service we provide our clients,” Cornerstone President Geoff Gonella said. “With his knowledge of the process and his deep relationships with the Committee and throughout Congress, his addition was a logical next step for us.”
Knisely will initially serve in an Of Counsel role and will handle a variety of health-related clients for the firm.
During his tenure on Capitol Hill, Knisely developed considerable expertise in and knowledge of a broad range of Federal programs and agencies. In particular, he is very familiar with those programs and agencies in the areas of health, education and labor. He was on the Hill when many current Federal programs were created and has watched them grow and evolve over the years. In his 30 years on the Hill, he also developed an extensive knowledge and understanding of the parliamentary and legislative procedures of the Congress.
Knisely is a graduate of the University of Nebraska, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in political science.
