ENERGY
Cornerstone Government Affairs’ broad experience in energy extends deeply into the development and execution of energy policy and numerous energy-related authorization efforts, as well as into the funding of virtually all programs under the jurisdiction of the Department of Energy and the Department of the Interior.
Energy Policy

Cornerstone staff has significant experience in energy policy dating from the mid-1970’s period of high oil prices and the subsequent adoption of numerous energy laws designed to fight “the moral equivalent of war.” Cornerstone staff has been involved in many energy-related legislative and funding issues undertaken by the Congress. Included among the major policy-related, legislative efforts with Cornerstone staff involvement are the Department of Energy Organization Act, the Energy Policy and Conservation Act, the National Energy Conservation and Policy Act, the Nuclear Waste Policy Act (and subsequent amendments), the Low-Level Radioactive Waste Policy Act, the Natural Gas Policy Act of 1978, and the Pacific Northwest Electric Power Planning and Conservation Act. Other legislative activities include amendments to the Federal Power Act, the Public Utility Holding Company Act of 1935, the Public Utility Regulatory Policies Act of 1978, the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, and the Defense Production Act, among others.
Energy Appropriations

In addition to their intimate involvement in the drafting, passage and amending of numerous energy bills dating back some 25 years, Cornerstone staff has likewise been in key positions of responsibility to provide federal appropriations for all of the programs under the jurisdictions of both the Department of Energy and Department of the Interior. These programs range from renewable energy, fossil energy and conservation, energy supply, and nuclear waste cleanup activities at the Department of Energy to onshore and offshore oil and mineral development and royalty management programs administered by the Department of the Interior.
